OVERDRIVE- TATE FX Antares OD...is it just another Tube Screamer???

$240.00 USD
 TATE FX ANTARES OVERDRIVE
Who doesn't make a Tube screamer?? To be fair it is all about
JRC 4558 D ...OpAmp. Even in the early days you not only had
the Ibanez/Maxon Tube Screamer but the Boss DS-1 Distortion.
The trail never ends. You have guys waiting nearly 2 years to buy a King of Tone ...it has a low gain and a medium gain side. Surprise!
The low gain side is a Tube Screamer.  LOL
The best Metal OD's are actually high gain Tube Screamers!!!
OK then what did Tate do different. Well the ts OpAmp has a lovely habit of leaking some clean signal. The Antares actually gives you control over how much or how little. Doing that and not making it sound like two separate signals is NOT EASY!!! Others have tried it and failed completely. If done right you get nice tight fat lows and very excellent definition on all your chords.
In short you can do rapid rhythmic strumming and it
comes back as tight as a Martin but with a lovely chunky gritty sound.

CONCLUSION
What's not to like?
OK there are some styles where even a ts really doesn't fit.
But for those where it does nothing gives you more control over your sound.
Damn if I don't really like this pedal.
I have no room on my board. actually boards. I have two patched together that take 35 pedals each. LOL
