It is a classic Octave Fuzz with an added wah effect type sound. It is what is in Synth 'speak' has an envelope filter follower. In short a Wah Wah pedal sound when you push it in the forward direction. The layout is confusing and made worse by labelling the controls with nonsense. It is enough to say you have level and gain and some parametric EQ functions plus control of the sweep of the filter on the Wah sound.

CONCLUSION

Even as just a Fuzz it is impressive. I find it's use of filters is cliche and corny. It's wah effect is 'same old' and most guys find these sound best left behind in a bad detective movie soundtrack from the 70's.

The Dreadbox Disorder pedal is similar. It however gives you a low and high pass filter so the Wah like sounds can travel in different directions. It also lets you swell/fade in the notes & chords. In short it 'is' indeed a simple but authentic synth and sounds like one. At $170.00 USD it's also a better deal.
