Harmony and Supro in the 60's with their MIJ cheapies. The very first Ibanez guitars like the Jet King was really just a Guyatone LG130T. I actually own a short lived reissue. It has P90's that can rip your face off, lol.
Anyhow before their guitar demise they started making pedals in the mid 70's when they seen Boss take off. Their distributors kept changing hands and even with great reviews you could never get a pedal. Just this week Josh Scott of JHS did a show on the best MIJ Fuzz pedals you never heard of. (Check below.)
Oddly enough there is still NOS available. Hot Rox UK had them but fool me I gave a heads up to a Fuzz collector friend and he appears to
have got the last one. WTF!!!
Do not let the pic fool you. The pedal looks big but it
very,very compact. Heavy and built like a tank too.
CONCLUSION
It just sounds good. It is very much a OD/Fuzz hybrid.
