AMPLIFIER- BLACK STAR St. James 50 ____NEW ____ weightless!!!! 50 watt tube

BLACKSTAR ST. ST. JAMES 50
First the head weighs about the same as your pet house cat !!! Two
models. One uses 6L6 power tubes like a Fender and the other uses EL34 just like a Marshall. They come as a single 12 combo or a 2x12 cab. Both have 3 levels of gain. There is an internal reactive load and ir's so you only need the head and can use it without a speaker for the studio or to feed out to the sound man at a concert and still use your amp/speaker as per normal.
The 6L6 version is voiced for modern Metal dirt sounds and dead clean, where as
the EL34 is all about classic killer Crunch with an 80's style mod for higher gain.
Both use a floor switch to select between clean, crunch and high gain modes.
CONCLUSION
The only serious downside to a tube amp is its weight and price. At $1200.00 USD for the head, $750.00 for the 2x12 cab or $780.00 for the combo this amp is in reach of anyone really wanting a reasonable solution.
It looks great!!! You get 50 watts. The 'Golden Wattage' for an un-mic'd backline. The perfect match to the dB put out by a punchy drum kit and a drummer with no volumes control, lol.
The only down side is that the load box is for running the amp for use without a speaker. It does not have a variable level. In short you can not take the 50 watts and turn it down to what sounds like 40 or 30 watts but get the 50 watt sound like a the load box I bought for my Marshall 50 Watt.
You can use a switch on the amp to drop the level for home home use.

...the first video I added in Aug 2022. It tells me either buy this or head into "F. the budget territory to get better ...often not substantially better either.

HOW IT WORKS
The problem with a tube amp is it's weight.
It needs a massive and very heavy transformer to turn the wall current into both more wattage and indeed less. What it you could replace it with a high tech solution that changed the wall current in a different way.
.
the fine print
I am 75 still gig ,and use a 50 watt Plexi
with a single 12 tuned cab. Each unit weighs about
that of carrying to Les Paul Std guitars. I find it
just barely manageable. I see this amp as my only
acceptable choice if in the near future I still
want to gig.
