FUZZ- MXR M225 Sub Machine ...octave & sub octave Fuzz still hot after 7 years

MXR M225 SUB MACHINE
$170.00 USD
Not new and with a word of mouth following for 7 years. MXR do have a
habit of nailing many things that simply 'just work'. They do the job without perhaps the warts and foibles of pedals that screech and shriek but need you to hold the reins. Like the octave Fuzz part of this pedal is no SolidGold 76 Fuzz that is like the early 80's Fuzz.
The sub octave section is controlled  'Doom'. You can do that slow and plodding thing but there is no growl or scream from it. On it's own it like getting a second pedal.
CONCLUSION
It does it's thing exceedingly well. I miss a bit of the 'crazys' that some of my favorite Fuzz pedals. It is bit heavy on that annoying nasal thing. There is no denying this covers a lot of bases. Pulled back you can get some everyday classic sounds but you can also add a lot of mass and punch. I can be dialed very tight which is not a Fuzz affictionato thing but if you are a guy big on OD's you could appreciate that.
