EASTWOOD BLACK BOX SERIES
Eastwood have been around forever doing reissues of defunct guitars. Michael Robinson founded it in 2001.
He even owns the Airline brand. Airline was the name Montgomery Ward used to for their in house brand. They had a catalog business pre-computers, back when it was the equivalent of online shopping. It had all the famous American brands make guitars for them. These brands simply put Airline on the headstock of their own brands. It was a clever move for Eastwood to buy the Airline name. If he wants to release many of the Supro, Harmony or Kay guitars he can bring it out under the Airline name legally with no fuss or issues from Supro or from perhaps the new owners of the Harmony brand. The guitars are cosmetically like the originals but many things like the neck profile and fit or things like only 3 screws holding on the neck being changed to 4 have been sorted. In short they are made playable to the modern buyer.
He has also cloned some of the best DeArmond PU's of the era to put
in the guitars but sell as well.
THE PEDALS
Eastwood made a couple of pedals with as expected a vintage look but very high spec. They do indeed sound very good but with prices at $400.00, Ouch! The new pedals do come in heavy steel vintage casings but all are under $150.00 USD.
CONCLUSION
The pedals on the whole are very good. Some, like for example their Tube Screamer style OD will have other and maybe better choices. The JHS Series 3 at $100.00 USD is an obvious alternative and a few are likely going to have a hard time against the $60 NUX and even $35 Caline pedals.
I need to check a detailed review on each to determine this. Literally a half minute on a pedal tells you F. all. Some may be excellent if shown in styles they best fit and others may be at best mediocre.
I did a quick comparison with the MAG Delay and Mosky Magnetic Delay which go figure, is a Kelley Mag Echo clone. I would rank them as tie. Big BUT! The Mosky is $45.00 USD
