I was 9 years old and my parents were out so my grandmother was with me when I saw Elvis for the first on the Sunday night Ed Sullivan show. I thought it was the coolest thing ever!!

In those days no one saw Rock on TV. Most towns had 3 or less channels to watch. There were 'Teen' magazines for young girls with pics. There were never pics or stories about his band. Bill Black's Combo.

It had Scotty Moore on guitar, Jerry Arnold on Drums and Bill Black on upright bass. A year after this he switched to a P. Bass. Other players were added from time to time for a tour, TV or a session.
