In the late 1920's and 1930's the first guitar amps arrived. The 12AX7 and 6L6 and other tubes borrowing from them did not exist. The early antique tubes however created their own tones and those tones were a bit dark but created some unique distortion and overtones that became the voice of early electric guitars. 

Nocturne have pedals that have captured those tones 

and a small niche market of players who are playing  

pre-60's Jazz. They all use them.

Nocturne have taken that R&D and married it to the needs of modern players looking for contemporary transparent sounds 

and created the Fluid Drive. 

The layout is Volume, Gain and the Bass and Treble EQ is uncolored & natural like the bygone amps they borrowed it from.

   CONCLUSION ___ 

The overall effect is like a colored boost pedal.

Primarily very clean but with character and 

warmth. Like a tasty meal with spice lightly 

added in a perfect blend. Very cool old 

school look and reasonably priced.
