NEED TO KNOW___ MODELING THE 2 BASIC TYPES

MODELING BASICS
I am not going into the 'What About ...' types of modelling because they are in their infancy
and they are not practical for an average player or indeed those making a living from them.
I will indeed over simplify. The point is for you to know what you are getting into.

COMPONENT MODELING
It breaks down what makes the sound and forms it artificially step by step.
The big boy in that is Fractal with their Ax FX III and spin offs. It is
not at all a DIY for 99% of us to come up with totally new sounds.
Line 6 takes a bow for inventing this.

PROFILING
In essence it is a system to record a sound and analyse its bits and save it nicely glued back together. You can indeed make your own original sounds and with patience and lots of trial and error and pure luck make something worthy that others may well buy. Even a beginners effort. The grand-daddy of this is Kemper with their Profiler. That said the Neural DSP is arguably the new King. If nothing else it is not like Kemper using old tech limitations to make their product. They add to what they do but they do not go back to square one and make a true new version.

WARNING
I do not like modelers. They all work with a static sound. In short they make a audio picture of a single sound.
If you played a chord into a looper and played it over and over for hours the sound would be the exact same
every time you heard it. If you did that with a tube amp you would not hear that chord sounding idententical
again until after it played about 1.3 million times.
...think of it as the difference between a rare pre war Martin guitar and a guitar made
of titanium.  😇
