IN THE BEGINNING
Origin Effects started out by making a large super pricy Compressor pedal cloned off of the
antique original Universal Audio 1176. This $3000.00 USD rack mount that still is in production.
Origin's last recently discontinued large pedal was the CALI76-TX. The big seller was their latter Cali76 Compact. After a few years of it they added the Stacked version to create the sound of a 1176 being stacked on a second 1176.
A favorite trick in the studio. Jimmy Page used it extensively. The latest version the FET Compressor put all 3 of these pedals in one enclosure only slightly bigger than the Compact. All other guitar versions are out of production. The Origin has been on boards where a guy had never paid even a 3rd of the price for his other pedals. It has been the ultimate 'Gotta-Have'.
LY-ROCK PEDALS
LYR-PEDAL STACKED EDITION
Origin sued LY-ROCK successfully on trademark
infringement and patents and had the pedal
removed from the market place. It disappeared
for a couple of years. I expect the patent ran out.
It is the stacked version. Origin wanted $500
in August. Now on a clearance they still want $420.00, WTF!!!
The LY-Rock price is the good news as are a couple
of reviews by some early buyers. The bad news
is there are no pro reviews nor any videos.
CONCLUSION __I am and very, very tempted. In the
mean time I will be fishing for more
info on a routine bases.
I have borrowed the videos from the Origin Stacked Edition
to give you an idea of what the pedal is all about.
It sounds great and appears to be well made but… it’s almost impossible to see the knob pointers in less than perfect light, and you can’t switch stage 2 in/out separately, which would have made it twice as useful…
