DELAY CATALINBREAD ECHOREC... Binson Echorec clone

catalinbread ||
ECHOREC
$340.00 USD
A tape Delay records and then erases in a loop but the Binson recorded on a spinning metal drum and uses four record heads not just one to record but the basic principle is the same. The tape has a sound that is fat and warm where the Binson is bright and clear but full across all frequencies. Neither are better, just different. The tape can often disappear from your attention but the Binson tends to be welded to and part of your sound.
     CONCLUSION ___
There are few companies that make them and there is a new variation of the original by T-Rex for a scary $2800.00 USD.
Clones are made by Drawmer Prince. Their Boonar sells for
$385.00 USD. The Strymon Vilante is another $430.00 USD. Keeley do the Dark Matter for $300.00 USD. None are bad
but I only did this because I know guys that have got or
had a few that I trust. They are happiest with the Catalinbread.

  1. Drum setting of the Boss Dd200 is great for this kind of effect

  2. I am not surprised but I reviewed this for guys wanting to know what the best clone made to do just the Binson thing.
    Dave Gilmour has been using the Boonar for years and the company are working on a signature pedal for the guy. I expect it will be incredible because ol' Dave doesn't need any money for 10 lifetimes so the pedal will have to be as scary perfect as possible. It is planned to happen some time in 2025, but I expect a price tag bordering on $500.00 USD. For one thing it may be digitally controlled for switching and storing your settings but it will have to use an all analog circuit for the actual signal. I know the guy that heads Drawmer. Dave is already gone thru 3 prototypes and is testing #4. He does this by using it. It takes months to even get a 'No' with a list of complaints, lol.
