GURUS 1959 DOUBLEDECKER MK II OVERDRIVE
The company has been making handmade pedals for 8 years always aiming to make the very best. The very best is not cheap and so the buyers are like with all things few and fewer still as there is never much profit to market them. In short even if it is a pedal you are willing to save up for you may never know it exists. It is starting to change because Baroni-Lab being in a similar position teamed up to form FoxGear to use both companies years of R&D to make the best and remain independent but together they make budget pedals. Fox Gear pedals
are very good but a few are exceptional.
It is voiced to have a Marshall Plexi vibe. The layout is the same for each channel with volume, gain and tone. A toggle switches in an 80's 'Jose' clipping mod.The pedal uses a single JJ ECC 83 which is virtually the familiar 12Ax7 tube found in 99% of all tube amps. A charge pump increases the voltage to 270 volts like a real tube amp would do. The pedal runs off of a standard 12v DC adapter.
CONCLUSION
The problem all tube pre amp/OD type pedals is you have to love the basic voice has since to be as tweakable as a real tube amp they would cost the price of an amp. It is most certainly a hybrid where the pedal includes FET OD with a real tube. FETs tends to function the best when it comes to it working with everyone's different rigs.
