GURUS ECHOSEX 3| Steve Lukather
This a 3 generation take on a pedal version of the mythical Binson EchoRec. The Binson is like a tape delay but puts the tape heads in a circle around a spinning metal drum instead of a loop or recording tape spinning across the tape heads.A brand new version of the original was released at NAMM it is over $2000.00 USD. It appears believe or not to not be overpriced. It is beyond overbuilt to the point it could last for decades. The charm of the original is the drum would start to were out and it cased the sound to create a beyond pleasing sound. But more wear would mean replacing a part etc. The new one has kept all parts that create the sound left like the original but has upgraded the mechanics to Military Spec. The GURUS has one stupid close to nailing the sound. Guys like Dave Gilmour have switched to it when it was at version 1 and use it live and recording.Steve Lukather has been using their $150.00 USD budget version for
about 6 years the Foxgear Echosex Baby so they offered to make him a signature version. The layout is Repeat Tone, Age of Damage, Echo Volume, Length of Swell And Echo Time.
CONCLUSIONI had the FoxGear version and loved the sound but it was not crystal clear and really full like this one. Lukather uses it as an always on pedal which really pushes my BUY button. $430.00 USD WTF, maybe not, lol.
