JOYO JF-22
O X F O R D S O U N D
This pedal is a clone of the tech21 Oxford. A pedal I heard on bad videos and hated it. They made it sound like a bad Fuzz. Unfortunately I forgot until today I gave it a second look. It is a take on a late model Orange Amp.The layout explains a lot. You get Level, Gain, Treble, Mids and Bass but you also get the famous Orange Voice which is a heavily distorted mid boost. Add a little and you get a killer growl like adding a V.1 Tone Bender. Add a lot and you get a very bad garage band sound, lol.
CONCLUSION ___
The pedal is needlessly big so to clone the big old school size of the tech21. It otherwise looks dead right. A tribute to the amp but the simplicity of the graphics keeps it from becoming trite. The sound is very, very bold. The Voice knob is its secret sauce. Like all sauce a little spices the sound but a lot makes it uneatable ear candy.
It can be worth having to keep from over using your Marshall or ...Whatever-in-a -Box.
You will note in the last video it can even be set to be quite transparent!!
