BISPELL AUDIOGLEAM
The first Fuzz that sold at retail is the Maestro Fuzz Tone. It was followed by 4 different Tone Benders although one is best known as the Fuzz Face. They Definity sound similar. The differences are about more gain, a tone control to cut highs and smoothing out the rough edges and push them towards Overdrive pedals before OpAmps and FETS came along and made OD's possible.Think of a Fuzz like a pickup truck. The biggest seller is the Ford F-150. A new manufacture can clone it, make something noticeably different but not too different or re-invent the whole concept of what a pickup is.The clone people always fail as they cannot counterfeit the truck. Those who take the best of the Ford ideas but add meaningful improvements usually win. Those who reinvent too often turn their product into something that is literally no longer a pickup but an odd looking car.The layout gives you Volume, Gain, Treble, Mid cut, and BIAS.
You have a toggle to choose which Fuzz you want and
another to change the impedance.
CONCLUSION ___
Well to get a convincing version of the Fuzz model you choose you may have
to change or tweak every knob. The unit is a Frankenstein so no matter how
close you get it will not nail anything. On the other hand if you need any one
of these pedals you will get a convincing substitute. It is a cover bands
dream Fuzz, lol. It will also suits those that want to put together a sound
that is all theirs. The bottom line is a damn good Fuzz even if every
sounds only vaguely different.
Alternative?
(You can hear it as it has own review)
They have fixed the voices inside the Fuzz to be as dead on as realistic as they could. They offer germanium transistors plus silicon. You get a Tone Bender v.1, v.2 and v.4. The first two
being the holy grails and the 3rd is the silicon v.4 that can
cover Muff like tones.
Both pedals are $200.00 USD so price is not an issue
between them. Both are valid.
I’ve got the Bispell Audio Proxy (Vox). One of my favourite pedals!
ReplyDeleteTHANX for the heads up, I notice they had several pedals when I visit their site but I try not to review the same brands in a row but mix in others. There over one million that have visited my site and every day the number grows. Everyone wants to see a things they are into and looking for. The doom guy are not looking for Country pedals, lol. I try to cover things equal.
ReplyDeleteSometimes everyone brings out a Fuzz or a MIAB etc. all in the same few days and no one likes to miss the ___NEW___. Just lately everyone is presenting a new Fuzz or a re-issue Fuzz so my site looks like a Fuzz only site, LOL I also love to Post a sale especially if is a steal. But if you have anything I have not covered I am really, really grateful to you guys that share. You guys are the best reviewers because you buy to use not to demo than sell.
