COMPRESSOR- WAMPLER Ego 76___NEW___UAFX 1176, Origin Cali76 ...which?

WAMPLER
  EGO76
 C O M P R E S S O R
$200.00 USD
So now we have another choice of what a UREI/UNVIVERAL AUDIO 1176 FET Compressor should be. In spite of  UNIVERSAL better known as just UA offering their own pedals, the pedals are digital not FET. Origin are FET and Wampler

is FET.
CONCLUSION ___
I find the UAFX the most comprehensive and detailed. The Origin is a perfect balance between authentic in detail very strong in fattening and warming the signal. To me the UA is a tiny bit less full. The Wampler is more Origin than UAFX. UAFX is $170.00 USD but Origin is $360.00 USD. I have listen to the UAFX and Cali76 a hundred times so it is hard to be fair with the Wampler as the detail is not stuck in my head.  ...yet,😳

Compare the the UAFX TO THE Origin

  1. Is the digital emulation of the SA Atlas as good as the emulation of the UAFx?

  2. It is improbable anyone could tell without both being used in application. If you compare analog to digital on a video differences are audible but with 2 digital sources unless one source is audible because one unit is a budget unit with very low specs it is merely an educated guess or an ascetic decision.

  5. Yes and no, lol. It is like hearing the difference between a real tube amp and a modeler. Much of it just like an amp and a modeler is a feel thing. Analog has for dynamics and much more nuance. nothing is harder than choosing a compressor without playing it because a compressor is made to decrease dynamics. It also changes the tone. If you do not like either you will hate the thing.
To your ears when you hit the strings and at that second we will say your loudness is at 10, the sound drops to 7 stays sustaining there for a short time than fades away slowly to zero. A Comp turns up the sustain part and that fade away to as much as when you hit the strings. too much can be cool but sounds unnatural ,because it is unnatural, lol.

Think of it as your sound running quickly up a mountain, then comes down the other side about a third of the way then it walks across a wide plain then goes down into a valley. A comp chops off the top of the mountain then fills the valley in so is not very steep but more of a big shallow dried up lake and not a valley. it is why a Compressor is called a compressor because to your ears it squeezes the sound down and up so its loudness is uniform.
