FUZZ-TOP TONE DG-1 ...A Muff?...a Pete Cornish P1 ...what would Gilmour think?
|TOP TONE DRIVEGATE DG-1 FUZZ| Many have tried to copy the Pete Cornish's Fuzz the P1. It was
his take on a Rams Head Big Muff. I had a Ram myself that I bought new.
$260.00 USD
Yes back in the days when it and a CryBaby Wah were all you had. The P1 sounds nothing like it. lol It is it's own thing and a dam good pedal nevertheless. Pete designed it for Dave Gilmour along with the G2 both were really variations of the same pedal. They were both meant to be a one off. BUT as a one off Pete got tired of endless pleas to make more. He did ...he does and at $500 a crack he is busy but not overwhelmed. Toptone does the DG-2 as well. It is identical sounding to the Cornish G2 Well the DG-1 is in my mind a better pedal. It was TOP TONE's first attempt at a clone. It even won awards and has a legion of fans. It is very similar but brighter and has more punch and more sustain. Both pedals are the same price and can be bought direct. There are lots of videos and reviews on the site too. But give them both a listen and choose for yourself
CONCLUSION Both sound great. There are no losers no matter which one you like.
