FUZZ-JOE GORE Porkolator is it a Fuzz? an OD? maybe neither?

$200.00 USD
 GORE PORKOLATOR FUZZ
Joe Gore made a living for a long time hot rodding the 'Stars' pedals. He now also makes his own pedals that are hot rodded failures of the past, Yes failures.
He takes mostly Fuzz pedals from the past that have a cult following but were often failures. In the 60's and 70's a good Fuzz was just part of a modern sound and no one was thinking of a modern OD. Except Interfax.
The Porkolator is a take on the short lived Interfax Harmonic Percolator that came out in the
early 70's.
It looks like like apiece of office equipment that connected to a keypunch machine!

Interfax deemed that the think missing from a Fuzz was even order harmonics because amp distortion had both odd order and a generous amount of even order harmonics. A Fuzz is all about square wave odd order harmonics. They set out to fix it. Unfortunately the idea was ahead of its time. They also did not have that magic blend of all the harmonics so the pedal had a synthetic quality. The box did not look exactly cool and the company's name was certainly NOT Rock and Roll. To bad they had the start of the first true OD.
CONCLUSION
The magic of the Gore pedal is not that he improved on the objective of the pedal  to make it more amp like but took what they already had and put it on steroids.
Good idea!!! it works!
