Some would call it a low gain pedal but is really all about getting that tone just before breakup. A sound that is actually very distorted but until breakup there is no recognizable distortion. There is also an increase in transformer compression.
A great example is that thick syrupy sound that Hendrix used for his clean sound. It creates the gentle giant sound in his The Wind Cries Mary.
I feel it succeeds because the pedal is on a single mission. There are many pedals that make it part of the overall sound but they ALL fail because the sound always gets too thin.
The pedal has a simple Volume, Gain and Tone set up.
A further two switches are added . One is appropriate called Air and lightens the density and the other adds low boost.
Unlike a Tube Screamer this 'actually' sounds like a REAL amp!
Damn impressive ..it has no rival because no one else makes one lol
Clowning aside it is damn good pedal!!!! ....impressive+
