12String Simulator
The layout is Blend of your guitar with the other faux 6 strings. Chous controls the depth and Rate controls the rate of the modulation between the real and faux strings. A toggle switches in a short slap back delay the gives it a reverb effect.
CONCLUSION ___ It is a very good simulation. Great for subing for a an acoustic guitar with a similar vibe.

Rotary Speaker Simulator
It is a take on a Leslie self powered speaker Cabinet It had a rotating wooden drum with a 15'' speaker driving it and an actual horn like Tweeter that was spun in the opposite direction with a motor. The layoit has drive to give you the low gain drive of the Leslie's amp. Blend to mix the guitar with the effect. Speed determines modulation. You can set 2 speeds and a ramp gradually speeding up if you go from the slow
setting to the high. The effect can be reversed doing the opposite.
CONCLUSION ___ It is one of the best I have ever heard.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard a more convincing stereo Leslie sound in a pedal than the ‘I get around’. I ordered one of those because I’ve been eyeing those and I know if I don’t get it, I’d be kicking myself after. Not I need a good univibe pedal to complete the effects I want. Have any ones you recommend? Robin trower bridge of signs and Jimi Hendrix are my two favorite univibe sounds. Any really good ones you know for those sounds?

ReplyDelete*sighs
ReplyDeleteI tried a few and hated them. They all had a modulation that at the end of each sweep there is a drastic 'thump' sound so it sounded like you had a toy drum machine playing along with you. When Hendrix used a real one you you could barely notice the modulation as some kind of pulsating thing. Damned if the MXR UniVibe doesn't nail the real ones sound. They never removed all the quirky warts and scars from it. It is a bit tricky to dial in that great sound but once you have it it is killer. Best of all it is $150.00 USD.
ReplyDeleteIs the Nux roctary as good?
ReplyDeleteThe NUX is a digitally modelled sound made 6 years ago using affordable chips that were a bit lo-fi with a 44.1KhZ sampling rate It appears to be discontinued. NUX put a lot into developing their modelers and they are one by one taking that tech to make individual pedals with better specs. For example they just killed 23 Core pedals and brought out 6 of them as new versions. Similar look but with a new layout, more features and better specs. I expect they will get around to their Verdugo series with a new Roctary soon. All the new Keeley pedals are using better chips which give them more clarity and detail.
ReplyDeleteI hope there will be a new and smaller roctary
