FUZZ- INTERSTELLAR AUDIO MACHINES Fuzzsquatch Fuzzdrive... Muff??? Yes

$278.00 USD
INTERSTELLAR AUDIOOMACHINES
FUZZSQUATCH FUZZDRIVE
Yes folks a Muff. An OpAmp Muff at that. Not much to add. The layout is Volume, Tone, and Gain. A toggle switch bypasses the clipping diodes as another voice.
A fat and unruly voice but a useful noise.
CONCLUSION ___
It sounds great but there are countless better Fuzz pedals that sound equal to better to cover the same ground. After all it is just a bog standard Muff without any extras. All Fuzz pedals. literally all but totally mask what guitar is driving them. Subtleties in OD's make noticeable differences. Especially an Amp-in-a-box that can sound dead accurate to passable but pleasing. Or worse still  total crap.
In short a very good cheap Chinese Fuzz can sound as good. Keep in mind that the original Tone Bender had only 7 parts on its circuit board. A basic Muff is hardly a rocket science effort so prices
should not cost the price of a moon landing.
Todays' price is a sale price.
The regular price is a "please bend over" $348.00 USD.

  1. Is the Movall Galactic groove the best option for a budget tone bender. What is the difference with an expensive "boutique" Tonebender (apart the scarce NOS parts)?

  2. Both the modern take and the budget take on many TB is the use of silicon transistors because they are plentiful cheap and reliable. 99% of the time NOS in a Tone Bender means they are certainly using germanium transistors. When the TB was made it was not really an option it was all you could buy. The germanium transistors are subject to temper changes and can stop working until they cool down. They also screw up if you are fed a low impedance signal like a buffer. All Boss pedals have a buffer. All wireless units have a buffer. Buffers keep your signal from getting weak or losing highs. Guys that do not use dirt pedals with germanium love buffers. I digress but in the real world germanium transistors and using them live are really bad idea.
The Movall can dial in a classic sound. In my estimation one killer sound and many that are usable but if like me I just want one perfect old school sound from it. I get it, I then leave it alone. I use it for stacked on my 3 different Marshall-in-a box pedals to nail the old sounds I hear on records.
If what you need is just one Fuzz to cover 95% of anything simply needing a Fuzz the Joyo Tiny-Huge (Fuzz-Face) is killer plus, plus!!! @ $40.00 USD it is steal. If a guy got it and then started collecting other Fuzz pedals they could end up overtime being upgraded or whatever. The Joyo is a Swiss Army knife Fuzz it never gets sold. If you don't need it today you may need it tomorrow.

    1. What are your settings with the knobs to get that killer sound with the Movall?

    2. I have the Tone at 10 o'Clock and the Gain at 11 o'Clock ....I keep the Volume around 10:30 which is unity gain (or in English the Fuzz is the same loudness either on or turned off) Pots are notorious for never meeting spec so these are approximate settings. I am using both PAF hummies and P90 PU's with this Fuzz without changing the pedal's settings. I stack the Fuzz on MIAB pedals. It gives the OD pedals bite and a bit of growl. This adds to cut and definition to a MIAB and compensates for any mud so you can pull up the lows a bit for a fat sound.
