Orion are a Germany company that been around a long time yet somewhat under the radar, There site has always looked home made and under construction. lol
The Dakota is a low gain OD with a layout of Level, Tone, Volume and Boost. It can move into a medium gain OD but that is not what it does best

CONSTRUCTION
I feel the point of this OD was the same as the Klon
which was to get a full rich just before breakup sound.
The Klon adds a wide mid boost as well whereas the Dakota aims to be more transparent and not overly boost any frequency not in your amp. It does this very well when kept to very low gain settings. 
I think where it would shine is when playing in places where you are forced to turn down your amp below any decent tone. It sounds at its best with the gain nearly off and used as a tone boost. SRV ran his Tube Screamer with the gain that way.
