OVERDRIVE-MODTONE Classic Valve Distortion ...a JCM 800 stack-in-a-box for $70

MODTONE CLASSIC VALVE DISTORTION
$70.00 USD

It all started with the Marshall Gov'nor pedal and was nicely
reinvented by the Aussies with the MI Audio Crunch.
JHS did the Angry Charlie that took the whole idea to it's pinnacle. At each step there were out cries of theft! theft! Yes a copy was accused of stealing the last copy. LOL
It all got rather silly. Marshall had made the original but replaced it with a new pedal that is still made. You never heard of it because it sucks!

As usual I digress.
What about this reincarnation? Well it is damn good. Best of all it is dirt cheap!!! Modtone as usual have distilled it down to what 'works'. They are good at that. They take a design that is like a great flavour of ice cream but the nuts get stuck in your teeth and remove the nuts. Perhaps they may remove a bit of character of the original  ...BUT you get a sound that simply just 'works'.
There is nothing to p. you off. Not even the price!

CONCLUSION
Well I would not want it as my main OD. Yes I know ...somthing significantly better costs a minimum of 3 times the price. It could easily cost 4 times the price too.
BUT ...BUT ...BUT for times when those big power chords are just the thing to take the audience to the top of the mountain then push them over it. YES!!!
