Modtone had a rep of distilling overdone but very useful
pedals that everyone takes to 'improve' and
repackage. Every day there is a new Tube Screamer or Big Muff
as the 'wheel' is yet again reinvented.
Modtone's approach is just get rid of the warts and tidy up
things like a mushy low end or fizz in the highs
then sell you a stress free unit at a reasonable price.
Sometimes they get it dead right and other times
oops!
First if you don't have a Fuzz because you are an OD guy
or are put off with the mess of sputters and farts that Fuzz lovers love this is for you.
It could be used effectively stacked with an OD that has a lot of
character that but could use a sonic kick start and and
some much needed balz.
CONCLUSION
Cheap and cheerful ...and to the point. Yes you can get the EH mini for about the same.
But trust me you wouldn't want to. I had one. You get it close to the right sustain and it squeals and feeds back.
