ENVELOPE MODIFIER - ELECTRO-HARMONIX Attack Decay ...very cool but perhaps a very limited use? BUT ...

$125.00 USD
 ELECTRO-HARMONIX
 ATTACK DECAY

Even in the 60's recording guitar in the studio then
playing the tape backwards was used by a few players
Some even learnt their solo backwards off the tape
then recorded that so when they reversed the tape they got what many feel is a more musical effort.
In the 80's EH brought out their first 'Attack Decay' pedal. By then the novelty was over and it tanked.

Actually the EH sounds very good. It is really a synth type envelope modifier and a very good one.

CONCLUSION
How often can you use it becomes the question.
I feel their Synth 9 could be a better bet because you actually get 9 different non guitar sounds so there are more possibilities of where it can be used.

Perhaps though at only $125.00 USD it could be a welcome addition to your rig. If you are in an all guitar band a change from the sound of the guitar is heaven to an audience after a set or two. :-)

I would definitely check out the Digitech Dirty Robot before jumping in.
It is definitely easier to use on things like a solo without having rethink your playing. The EH pedals really affect what you can or can not play. You really have to compose original things that work with how the pedal works. The Robot is very forgiving in comparison.
