FOX PEDALS VIXEN DIMENSIONAL DRIVE
$200.00 USD |
Nanolog made their own pedals based around a carbon diode that they invented that clips the guitar signal dead clean. It does but like anything the device has it's own colorization that it adds to the sound. Although the old tech is flawed it does add character and warmth. Nanalog disappeared as far as pedals are concerned but they still make their Nanalog N3 Quantum Diode. Nanalog before folding was forced to try adding a conventional diode to the mix. Fox is giving the idea a second shot. They did however add a conventional 1N4148 Diode still going strong since 1961 to sweeten the sound.
CONCLUSION
I am both impressed and disappointed. It is indeed very transparent but to me it has a symmetrical distortion vibe which a conventional transparent pedal like a
Bluesbreaker does not. I would understand why you would like it
especially if you love the Tube Screamer pedals which are the
defacto symmetrical distortion pedals.
The fine Print
The pedal sounds good and it is well made, but they are
a company that get up my nose by creating pretentious
jargon to describe their products. Analog tech on pedal
level in this day and age is 'horse and buggy' electronics
I hate all the childish bravado and bullsh@t
