VOLTAGE DRIVER
Mr. Tonebender himself, Gary Hurst made 3 variations of the same Colorsound Booster. The Voltage Booster, and the same thing for
America called the Overdriver.NOTE: The term Overdrive was not in use yet.Any pedal with a lower or higher gain
was simply called a Distortion pedal at the time. The fist model was 18v that caused a problem at the time as 99% of the available adapters were 9V. So, Version 2 was 9v. The 9 had more dirt and the 18 was less compressed and had more headroom. In either case Gary had invented the first medium gain OD, not a Boost. "Damn'' he said.NOTE: a problem ????Different players wanted either the 9v or 18 v. He then came up with the Voltage Driver which is the same circuit with mods to be a cleaner boost with headroom. This solved all the confusion and anxiety by having 2 separate pedals.NOTE: BLAMMO makes everyone happy. The layout is Volume, Treble, Bass, and Gain. The toggle with the 9v/18v
choice solves the headroom or more dirt problem.NOTE: The unit has a charge pump in it so yourstandard 9v adapter is all you need to run the unit.
CONCLUSION __I am with Gary. He wanted to make a Booster and in theend he did a total killer job. So good it became an alwayson with many who bought one.I have watch many demos where the just touch on pullingback on the first units which turned the pedal when dimedinto a second rate Fuzz. I only just found out about the'Fix It' Voltage driver variation!!!BLAMMO makes both camps happy.
