This like the '69 is a Fuzz Face but the one that moved away from the '69 that used germanium transistors and used silicon transistors. The problem with germanium overheating can make the pedal temporally get iractic or even shut down until it cools off. When building a pedal every germanium transistor needs to be tested before soldering in as they have a high unreliability factor. Add to that the Big Muff had arrived and was very much in fashion with its 'space age' silicon transistors. The layout is dead simple with just Volume, Gain and Mids.
CONCLUSION __
It is neither better or worse sounding than the '69. Silicon is tight and near OD sounding. Germanium is fatter very gritty and warmer. I love germanium but had all the problems, even nightmares live, LOL. But I still keep trying, LOL.
