When I put on a new Post in a short time it will attract about
20 or 30 players. If it is famous brand or a fashionable pedal like a Bluesbreaker then that can double. It also doubles if it is a Tube Screamer. If it is Klon It can be 100 plus. I think do to Behringer's clever mini take on nailing the enclosure has doubled that.
Of course the general bad times of current day to day living at this time in history and a bit of affordable escape a pedal always gives us has doubled the numbers of guys wanting one.
In your original post of the Centaur you mention that Mr Finnegan was involved. I saw that in no other articles thus far. Most of the other article are posting the same basic canned informatiion. I am around number 200 in the first batch of pedals via Sweetwater out of around 1500 ordered at the time the sales guy called me. He made it sound like the only protected thing about the pedal was the name 'Klon' and that the design and circuit were considered fair play. I certainly don't know myself but will check it out when it arrives in about 2 weeks. :)
ReplyDeleteThe info I got was from the original first day video made by Behringer with Finnegan's picture in the video. I saw that video about an hour after it was posted. A day latter was the first time anyone new had posted a comment. I have about 200 plus sources fed to to me 24/7 that takes me directly or indirectly to a freshly posted video posted by about 2000 makers even those not in English. If you check the Posted time on my videos you will see that looks like I never ever sleep. I do but never longer than 4 hours at a time. I have extreme insomnia. If a video is pulled or replaced the one on this site is pulled at the same time but NOT replaced. I have to re-download it. As for a patent it would have never been granted for more than 10 years (Boss pedals have only been granted 5 years) ...so the Klon patent would be over in 2004 if they got 10. The word Klon can not on its own be copywritten as it simply means 'clone'. It is why companies invent words for their product like 'Windex' window cleaner.
ReplyDeleteYour pedal may arrive in 2 weeks but do not be surprised if it does not arrive until mid January. Shipping in December is a nightmare as the volume of shipping is tenfold. An average import from China gets transferred between 12 to 16 times before the consumer has it. It took me 4 months when I ordered the Behringer Super Fuzz back when anyone could become a dealer. Now most countries have only one dealer.
It just occurred to me Bill Finnigan has not said a word about the Behringer. Why??? He always has a freely shared opinion even if not asked. I suspect he was told to NOT talk to the media within a contract made with Behringer to get some serious money. Behringer do 100 million in sales of music related product every year. They would always have 100% control over any marketing. They might well have either changed their minds or created a deliberate leak on any info. Boss sent me an infomercial in 2020 and a release date for a Waza Craft version of their FZ-2 Hyper Fuzz. They pulled the video the next day and we still do not have the pedal??
ReplyDeleteIt is possible. We will all know eventually, after the units start arriving in our mailboxes. either way, keep it up. I and many other enjoy your efforts here!
ReplyDeleteI like the term 'a bit of affordable escape' - it really nails it down. Thx for this blog and have a great Christmas time!
