GREEN MARTIAN OVERDRIVE
It is not rocket science it is a Tube Screamer. The best seller is the current Ibanez TS9 which is made from off the shelf dependable but relatively cheap MIC easy to source parts. In short if they wanted to they need not do anything but buy the same parts for this pedal. The layout is Kevel,Tone and Volume. A rotary switch gives you ts9, clean boost and Turbo a Keeley mid boost mod.
CONCLUSION __everyone should own a Tube Screamer if for no other reason
then to find out you hate it or love it but would be better if ... There are literally a thousand doing a different 'better if'
so you can go thru them all and get your version of.
Is it better than the Caline Emerald knight?
ReplyDeleteI would have to have both. My Caline sounds darker ...but that can be because my PLEXI is dark. I keep switching between the ts and my Boss SD-1 as both are used for the same purpose. In fact it is not unusual for guys to have both and swap them out then back again. Some guys use the BOSS Blues Driver. It is more noticeably different than the other 2 that are not identical twins but twins all the same. I have the Joyo Bright Day coming a near perfect clone of the Boss o It is meant once again to do the same job. As luck will have it is stuck at customs because of a strike. The strike literally ended today so maybe this week I will have it.
ReplyDeleteSome number of years ago, I went for the Behringer TO-800 - a green pedal suspiciously similar to a TS. Any thoughts on comparing these two?
ReplyDeleteThe Behringer TO-800 sounds like the Ibanez ts808 but has a bit more bite. The Ibanez ts9 has even more bite but the Behringer has more warmth. The TO-800 is a goldilocks pedal dead in between :-) Dead cool!!!
ReplyDeleteThe MOVALL has 2 more voices than the Behringer but I would NEVER use them. I only use a ts in the first place for a bit of upper mid boost . The extra voices for me are amateur overkill .
