The company has grown to the point that if they wants to grow but still be in the high end market they need to aim at less challenging types of pedals to do their rocket ship reinterpretations. OD's that started out as problem fixers that are not trying to clone some complex sound like a tube amp are ideal.

This time it is the Klon. The gain knob on a Klon has stacked pots. As you move past a clean boost stage it blends into a light medium gain OD circuit. The OD circuit produces a very modest pedal. It is the boost part that give the original its magic. In short that boost is all about those glassy cleans of the original pedal. The OD side needs only to be not much more than Tube Screamer to make  acceptable.

The layout is level, gain and tone as you would expect.

Another knob is to add cleans. A toggle gives you the Klon mid push or a flatter mid and another choses the voicing from basically single coil or HB input.

CONCLUSION__

The magic to much of these old pedals is because the parts were chosen by the designers ear not high tech computer read outs. The down side is they 

tend to be bit muddy and erratic things can change by slight wrong twist of 

a knob. Fixing the lows but thinning some mids or cutting the highs by just 

a hair more and the highs take an f-off pill, lol. Etc. Etc. 

So a pedal like this should be viewed like a Swiss Army Knife EQ to fix 

what bothers you. If you think the price is obscene you should just consider 

one thing. You are probably right 😠
