Hi, you aren't interested in conersation and talking about gear?
ReplyDeleteWould be glad you could jave answered on my questions regarding the CKK Royal Fuzz.
I decided for now not to buy this pedal 'cause of the viewd youtubes. Ok, that's not fear due the data compressions etc. but for now I'm statisfied with my simple DS-1 (SMD), DS-2 (THD), the ultra cool Fuu Face JH-F1 experimenting with a dying batterie (crazy sound in a handwired AC30, Top-Boost - crazy!!!). It also depends on the amps more than on the guitars.
I also like from hearing (CD) the used Hyper Fuzz, but there's a Behringer for some bucks :-)
Any advice in buying more or less actual pedals which could subsitued soon? I mean, the old good stuff is in several cases better, maybe, like the Boss PH-2 (maybe PR-1) compared to the digital PH-3.
The digital modulation pedals tend to sound great in a effects loop so your preamp is coming at them much like in a studio but the analog pedals were designed to sound good coming into the front end as there was no such thing as an effects loop back then.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the MXR Phase 90 for that. I personal use the MXR mini Phase 95. When I get stuck on certain sounds I ask Dave Friedman. Yes the guy that sells amps, lol. He personally uses the Phase 95 although he owns a couple of original Phase 90's. They sell for $110.00 USD and being mini they do not use up a lot of space.
Most Phasers use the basic topography of the MXR. The exception is Electro Harmonix. Their Small Stone uses a whole different tech to make its phasing. It sounds so different a guy could justify having both it and an MXR on the same board. Behringer do dead on as perfect as it gets clone. The Behringer model VP1 Vintage Phaser. It even come in the same metal encloser. Sweetwater sell them for $22.00 USD, No that's not a typo.___$22.
Thanks for the new infos to me.
ReplyDeleteHaving mostly older amps they don't have the FX loop and others like Marshalls have the terrible parallel one.
I noticed with an new Marshall Studio that an Boss SDE-3 and an Deluxe Memory Man are much louder after the preamp and sound maybe somewhat different. Thought it's the postiton in the chain. I have to check it.
As mentioned the Phase 95 was fine but compared to the Script it was a slightly different pedal. And yes, in a band context it doesn't matter. I 1st purchased the Script and had a great offer on a Phase 95 for less than 95 bucks but compared I decided to keep the Script. I have a other MXR Mini going to sell it as new. It has to much noise (I wrote in your lasted MXR Blog about Dunlop). Dunlop isn't aware of producing every pedal right and don't understand they're not interested in user feedback and testing the things right.
I'm also using my old Boss Multi FX, the last one with analog circuits and compared to a Boss CE-2W, the MXR Phasers, DS-1, Clones etc. it sounds the same! Somewhat shooked.
Great you mentioned the Small Stone. I should give it a dry or the Behringer. I always thought there's something different in this pedal. But also the other EHX stuff could be great and many pros using them like the holy grail.
I bought a lot pedals (new) the last months due great prices, mostly they increased, some decreasing like Boss pedals after Corona price tags.
But i figured out - like many others (after buying 20 ODs/DSs and other pedals) that they sound nearly the same.
