It is the Steve Lukather-in-a-Box OD. He is mostly known as a session player. He says he never got there by having a clue of what he was doing. He is self taught and he says he got his style by not being able to copy records accurately by ear but could get close enough that no one complained.
He has the ability to quickly come up with a part that fits the tune, pleases the vocalist, gels with the other players parts and yet is often the hook in the tune. Michaël Jackson's Thriller is good example. The day I heard it the guitar riff stuck in my head. Then add to this, the guy is famous for simply being a damn nice guy. He can remember years of just getting by and although Rodenberg made him a double pedal with all the bels and whistles he had them make a small pedal with just his personal fave sounds and cheap. In fact it is a pedal that lives in his gigbag.
The layout is a simple volume, gain and tone with a switch to go from Crunch into a higher gain and another to boost the bass.
