OVERDRIVE- NABLA 1987 Plexi OD v.2 ..with so many Plexi pedals is this special ???

 NABLA 1987 PLEXI OD v.2
$215.00 USD
This company has been around awhile but really only dealt with regional sales. In fact the site is in Italian.
The pedal is meant to be a hot rodded Plexi. This allows for a lot of exciting possibilities but it much harder to nail the real deal. I have both and have no problem with it but I expect a lot more pure performance out of a hot rod pedal.
The layout has your usual Drive, Tone. Level and a knob labelled '11' which controls a switchable boost. There is a switch for a mid boost or cut and another labelled tight which will be a fixed high pass filter to cut the deeper lows.
CONCLUSION
There are a lot of good Plexi pedals out there many sound really good. I find that even so some have a better feel or more usable sustain. Seldom do reviewers show you the exact
limit of the sustain unless unless it comes easy or they are simply using a lot of amp volume
but have not mentioned it. I am not a big fan of pedals with a switchable boost because you set up a great sound without it and then the whole sound is screwed by the boost when you kick it
in because it does not have it's own EQ In the end you use some boost but you settle on one sound that you do not switch it off. Which means the pedal could have been smaller and cheaper
if they took out the switch.
The overall tone is damn good. My problem is it does not have the extra beef and tone of a REVV3 or fat lows of the REVV4 or the exquisite harmonic detail of the LPD 87 with it's 12 gain stages. It also does not have the better price points of any of the AMT gourmet amp line.
On the other hand if it hits you ...go for it because it does sound very good and in the context of a
band things like a control over a tight sound  or even set the boost a bit low just to cut can be important. I play in a power trio so a super fat extra crushing sound is critical.

  2. There is a difference between the two pedals. Nabla 1987 is for British-style 80s Hard Rock sounds. The LPD 87 pedal is more for Melodic Hard Rock and L.A.-style GLAM sounds. They are two different concepts within the same decade.

If you look for the metal sounds of the REVV4 in these two pedals, I think you will not find them because they are not the same sound concepts.
