This has been out for a few months but the company is majorly under the radar. Hence the 'new' moniker.
Dan Armstrong invented some of the first pedals ever made. They were in a tiny box that you pugged right into your guitar jack. Each had a brilliant concept but were mostly quirky and weird. The Green Ringer is ring modulator which like an octave Fuzz except pushed to the extreme it can generate more discordant noise than signal. Set just right you get a pleasantly nasty metallic buzz which tends to get a bit thin. The Flare has tightened up the sound and the FET boost does a great job of fattening the sound up.
The layout is level with a second level for the boost and sparkle is more important to cut highs and buzz.
CONCLUSIONIt is impressive. A ring modulator seldom goes beyond the shoegaze or Sc-Fi thing but this comes across more as a metallic sounding octave Fuzz. Very unique, very special and useable.
