FUZZ
They are made by Caline who have literally made over 100 different new pedals over the years. These new ones I am sure are recycled from the 'best of' the old Caline models. They come in the new enclosures which are 3/4 the size of the standard MXR style Hammond B box. They do not tip over like a mini pedal and are big enough for a real knob. The layout is a standard volume, gain and tone.
$22.00 USD on AliExpress
CONCLUSION
It is definitely a Big Muff. If it was in an Electro-Harmonix enclosure and a Muff guy heard it he wouldn't even blink. Are their better Muffs out there? No just a hundred slightly different ones. It is like arguing which is the best shade of red. There is NO best shade of red only personal preferences.
It has a wall of sound fat mids with a lot of a saturation thing going on. The sustain is very impressive. Anyone ...bedroom warrior to total Pro could use it.
The price is good but even from AliExpress with shipping it is $34. It is a pedal that as soon as you hear it you go WOW ...that's it. Only then do I listen to it over and over trying to find some glitch in the sound that tells you it is a budget pedal.
But I can't find any.
It is damn impressive.
HANDS ON
Nothing much to say. I wanted a straight forward Big Muff. I did not want some ones clever idea how they could improve it. It is not broke, it doesn't need to be fixed. It took seconds to nail 'that sound'. The build quality is impressive, it sounds dead on 70's Muff. Mission accomplished.
the fine print
I have wanted a straight forward classic big box Muff sound for years since using
one for years in the 70's in the London UK Prog band Tallis. Maybe it is nostalgia
but it would be no problem to fit it into my present music.
So to get to the point I just ordered this one!!
