FUZZ- FENDER Shields Blender ___ NEW ___ signature pedal of the 70's classic

FENDER|SHEILDS BLENDER FUZZ
$500.00 USD
The original has been Kevin Sheilds of Bloody Valentine and Smashing Pumpkins fame go to Fuzz. The Fuzz combines a silicon Fuzz Face with an Octave fuzz and let you blend the two. It also had a Sag feature to give it a saturated tube amp voltage drop effect, via messing with the BIAS. Finally it added an expander so to make sure if you got too crazy with the BIAS/sag thing it would fill in any drop outs.
CONCLUSION
Original 70's Blender
Too big and needlessly over priced for the average player. Kevin literally improvises with sounds live so it makes sense. Most of us set up a specific sound and than just leave it only changing it for a different tune that again needs a specific but different tone. They will certainly sell out as there will only be 700 made as a Ltd Ed pedal.

  1. A friend of mine had the original one from the 70's and I have never heard any other fuzz that sounds like this one (but it was decades ago so maybe it's just nostalgia). A very unique pedal in my opinion. Thanks for the review.

  2. There are not only hundreds of the same kinds of pedals but at least 100 new builders adding to the choices every year.
In a blindfold test with 10 pedals it would be rare for every guy to chose a classic or even the one that all the reviewers boast about. Rock has always been "If it sounds good it is good". New and improved never happens. Only new and sounds good in it's own way has any justification. If a transparent pedal was actually transparent no one would buy it, lol.
