This does not even hint at it but it is an old School Hardclipper OD from the 70's. 

It all  started with the MXR Distortion + then the DOD 250 pre and the Rat, all Stateside and than BOSS picked up the gauntlet in Japan.

The layout is is strictly Flash Gordon futuristic, lol The first 2 rows of switches are gain and volume. You can never forget your settings and it is hard to accidently turn off a toggle. Hence the name from Abacus beads. Your bottom left switch is for dark and bright, the middle is for low or higher gain and the third gives you a choice of Silicon, LED or germanium clipping diodes.

CONCLUSION

It is nothing near an Amp-in-a-Box. It borders on a Fuzz but it is not that. I find what it lacks in something like a great MIAB it makes up for with a great punchy, and really tight sound with really nice separation and a cutting attack. Exceptional for rhythm sounds or stacking to get

some of that great attack.
