Jon Cusack has been making pedals for 20 years. If you have a Cusack pedal that is that old it likely still is working. If it isn't it can probably be repaired and best all repaired cheap. Jon started out as repair guy for industrial electronics. His big complaint was design that ignored being serviced and where parts were nickel and dimed to save money. Too often he found things that just one a buck more to the cost made an otherwise good design bullet proof. 

He also felt what works great like for example Reverb for added natural ambience in a movie or with the human voice can sound too dark, too busy or weak and thin on an electric guitar. 

So what we get are the get are the 3 basic sounds that work great on a guitar spring, Plate and 5 others with that are aimed of what works best within the context what the public finds is a tune. It is not aimed at 

Shoegaze or Star Wars sounds that are less ideal for said described 'tunes'. 

Add to that it has memory. Crucial for the gigging player.

CONCLUSION

Definitely my kind of pedal. That said you only need a pedal that has a single reverb type can do the job. For years Dave Gilmour had only a Plate sound. Decades have past with the Spring Reverb in a Fender amp being all anyone had and still for many all you need. Such pedals that do the job are both compact and indeed much cheaper.
