Back in the 60's if you wanted your Marshall to cut the ideal 'box' to buy
was a Dallas Arbiter Treble Booster. Calling it a treble booster always had 

me baffled as in reality it mostly boosted the upper mids.

Years later when the Tube Screamer came out guys like SVR bought one kept the gain down and cranked the level which does a very similar thing. The ts has a very narrow boost around 1k where as the Rangemaster has a wider and fatter boost. Everyone had one most notable Tony Iommi and Jimmy Page Keep in mind you 

could get this and Tonebender Fuzz and that was about it.

The original was in a basic metal box. You sat it on your amp, cranked it and 

simply left it on. A knob has been added to find the sweet spot but otherwise the Solar is exactly the same. Made the same way handwired and using an OC 139 germanium transistor.

CONCLUSION

The parts are so rare that you have to check when you order :-)

What can I say. It simply sounds great.
