SUMMER NAMM 2019 Harmony guitars brought into the present!!!

 HARMONY GUITARS 2019
If in the 50's you couldn't afford a Gibson or a Fender your best shot was a Kay or Harmony.
Harmony got crushed by early Japanese imports in the 60's. Numerous times the name has made a come back but instead of keeping the 'look' but bringing the guitars up to modern standards they made retro guitars or just used the Name tagged onto junk Strats etc.
Recently they are taking a chance that if they kept only the original body shapes but had a pro fit, finish and sound it might work.

CONCLUSION
Before you squirm at the prices these 'are' American made guitars from Kalamazoo Michigan. They may be made by Kal-Tone Musical Instrument Co. and not Heritage.
But only Heritage is set up for quantity production.
The good news is that the older guys at Heritage have been there since Gibson moved out. The company has never dropped the ball on quality! Ever! I hope they sell enough to keep  Harmony afloat.

UPDATE AUG 20/2019
Actually in turns out it is Heritage that now owns the Harmony name. There are still old timers steering the boat at Heritage so the quality control on the new Harmony's just couldn't be better.
Yes ...these guys are the 'real' Gibson guys!!!

They will bring out a few retro classics ...mildly updated BUT with a high quality fit a and finish. The idea is good but they could have kept the look and gone for very fast necks, a heavier bridge for sustain and hot PU.
The younger buyer judge by that ...often just intuitively! The "aren't these guitars elegant" approach of the new owners does not sell guitars. Yes the understated look is fine ...in fact I love it ...but the guitars should be 'sleepers'. Look innocent but thru a hot amp will take out the back wall!!!
I have an Airline modeled on the H88 ...I have a gold foil Harmony 'S' style PU at the neck but I have a Duncan PG-1 PAF at the bridge and with a 50's style 'toaster' PU cover it keeps the 50's look from being spoiled. This s.o.b. really does take out the back wall!!!!

This is the Harmony Bobcat it was the last hot seller
before Japan's invasion of cheap guitars
killed off USA Harmony's
The body style is very similar to the Silhouette
but note how the top of the body's shape is slightly curved out
where as the S. is almost a straight line.

One thing I find cool is the scale length is 24 1/4
bigger then a Fender 24" but smaller then a Gibson at 24 3/4

I think the new one looks cool.

I just think the neck, bridge and PU's
should be brought into the present!
