WESTMINISTER EFFECTS
Seth Morrison
2716 DISTORTION V.2
Metal music. His regular rig is Dual/Rec. In fact he is sponsored by MESA/Gibson.
He has a permanent band but this is his fly rig as he is often called to
one niters that appear to me to be charity gigs. The pedal is designed
to mimic his modified MESA.The layout is Volume, Gain, Treble, Mids, Bass and Prescence.
CONCLUSION ___
It sounds damn impressive. The pedal has nailed the modified
amp for feel and sound. That said the $155.00 USD
Aris Effects Spec-Defier must be considered and compared.
It has stupid level of balz and bite and is not just a fat sound
but a huge sound.
WARNING:Back in 2014 this company were dealing with cease and desist letters from lawyers of several of theBritish Pedal Company's products. Buyers found out that the company were selling these to us whenthey did not have rights to the names and that the circuits and parts were not to spec to the originals.Andertons stop selling them yet even know they are still on the dealers list. In short buyers beware!!
THE
ZONK MACHINE
This pedal was Hornby Skewes take on a Tone Bender v.1. It was modified enough to be its own thing. Not many were made. However because the company had many other music products that were available in many countries. If nothing else they had no competition. The only other pedal that was available for you to buy in many countries, was the original Maestro Fuzz Tone.CONCLUSION ___
This a clone in the original box's enclosure. It does NOT
use NOS transistor or it would be a very important point
written into their sites listing of features.
The price is obscene!!!
thefineprintOne of the best Zonk clones is the BLAMMO
and it covers the 3 versions of the originals.
$170.00 USD
The new mini Tone Bender v.2 clone is just that. It has no crazy, or for guys
like me, useless mods. It merely has a few warts/flaws of the original fixed
on the internal design to make it an instant plug and play. The mini means
you can squeeze it on any board. If you are not a Fuzz guy but want a shot at it a small Muff looks safe and
it is. BUT! The damn little thing gives you a second choice. I would without hesitation in your shoes get this!!!
HILS GUITARS
Surprisingly high quality budget headless guitars. The company is like Sire Guitars with great attention to detail and quality control. Unlike other company's that only sell direct they also sell thru the stores so you can try them out and get parts and warranty service. Headless guitars primarily use their own custom specialized parts so if you have a problem you have to use them. Unlike a Strat with dozens of companies making whammys and bridges with headless you have zero options. If a saddle or a tuner etc. needs replacing your guitar is unusable without it so an online only brand is a very high risk purchase.
I predict this brand will be here to stay. They check all the boxes.
KURO CUSTOM AUDIO
AKUMA
dirt pedals. The layout is Volume, Treble and Bass. The 'Int' knob is a mystery although my guess it is a BIAS control. Other than to say it sounds
very much like it is using silicon transistors it does not seem to be identifiable. It is a bit nasally which it is not typical of a Muff. Bender/Fuzz Face minus the germanium transistors ...think I.
CONCLUSION__What's not to like. It is massive, powerful and has losts of balz.
It has plenty of poke and punch. The graphics are excellent.
It captures a gothic vibe without the beyond trite damn skulls, demons etc.
SINGULAR SOUND
BEATBUDDY 2
Lets first get the basics out of the way.First your timing sucks!!! Secondly a metronome will not help because the sound goes NO-NO-NO-U-R-Still-F-ing-Crap.With a drum machine it says "LETS ROCK".It makes practicing literally twice as much fun. You start to feel you are having fun NOT even bothering to improve.BE WARNED A drum machine has side effects ...some players without noticing find they just keep getting better. One guy got so bad he
had to buy a pricy new guitar because he felt he earned it, LOL.
THE EXTRAS
You find out just by recording with your phone, where you needto fill out parts. Even more likely when to give them space. You learn to create built in dynamics. You know when and howgo from sparse to busy and light to heavy.
CONCLUSION__The damn thing costs a fortune!!!! WTFIt is because for one thing you can use it on world class recordings. Your audience will
want to know your drummers name. Fact ...for a start 99% of your audience
doesn't play guitar, LOL.It hasn't got any serious competition. Everything else is aimed at Hip Hop, Electronica
or Polka bands. Or heaven forbid real Drummers that use it as a toy or as second
drummer to play along with them. Using computer downloads things etc. is a
total pain and uses up hours of your time.
If you have no choice then get what I have now.The $159.00 USD Alesis SR16 it has remained unchanged since 1990. The sounds are fine even for recording bit its Lo-Fi tech makes the sound just muddy enough not to want to use it on a recording
I would want to sell. Even so it is on several Def Leppard records. Used they go for $100.00 USD.

CITADEL ELECTRONICS
Sandiago Alvarez and Tommi Otsavaara set out to make some serious sh@t. The company is in Hong Kong but I need not explain why.I chose the Particle Drive as an overview product. First it gives you a ballpark of the pricing. It also shows you their approach to features
and controls. The pedal is a high gain MIAB. A toggle lets you chose
3 fixed voices. The pedal lives or dies by them. You then get Volume,
Tone and Gain the classic controls for a simple tweak. Who doesn't
need a noise free OD? Yes you get a gate.
...I will give all these pedals their own review as new demos arrive. But for now we have an excellent quick look at all the pedals.
