OVERDRIVE- BOSS OD-1 Over Drive ... a quick look into a first

 BOSS OD-1 Over Drive
This was the first Overdrive ever on offered from anyone. Arguably the Rat was first but it was at the time referred to by many as a Fuzz. The Rat did not even try to be tube amp like where as the Boss did. The most famous OD is the Tube Screamer that came out 2 years later actually started life as a Boss OD-1 clone until it was discovered Boss had a 5 year patent on using asymmetrical distortion to make a dirt pedal, so the ts had to use symmetrical distortion. An odd twist of fate went in the Tube Screamers favor as it oui sold the Boss. In fact Boss kept their asymmetrical dirt but dumped the OD-1 in favor of the Boss SD-1 to get back the business. Ironically it is a clone of the ts topography as it is a better platform for making any number of OD's simply by changing the diodes. I laugh
because even from the beginning everyone was cloning everyone else, LOL.
                 CONCLUSION __
Yes Boss not so long ago released a Waza Craft version.
Pointless and pricy. Most ...myself included just wanted
a basic re-issue which would have been
a lot cheaper.

The Valeton Loft OD-10 is also discontinued. It  uses NOS parts to do a recreation of the original. Once they could not get anymore of the parts it too went goodbye. Fortunately 'Only Pedals' found some NOS buried in a dusty warehouse so I scooped one up fur just $55.00 USD. I both use it to sweeten a Fuzz by stacking the Fuzz on it.
Where it is beyond killer is used with a Semi. It has the knack of not making a Semi get that nasty resonant honking near feedback honking sh@t sound. __I just had a quick look. 'Only Pedals' still has some left.
