DELAY- ALABs Timeslip Delay___ NEW ___ high end specs
$100.00 USD
ALABSTime Delay
A small company in Singapore who is all about making digital pedals with seriously good pro effects for those on a budget, no not 9 out of 10 but dirt cheap but 10 out of 10 without sonic compromise.
The layout is Time,Repeat, mix, and modulation. A toggle switches between 1/4 notes and 3/8 and a tap function can be had with the foot switch. A rotary switch lets you choose between 9 voices.
CONCLUSION ___
Impressive plus. A lot going on and more than more than enough for anyone using it in a band doing good ol' tunes for the crowd who are not there for a movie soundtrack
Most applications on a Pro level are the use of pedals in a conventional tune. The average listener is not interested in soundtrack music without the movie to watch with it. So to get to the point a conventional echo coming out of pedal or even one with with a few tricks done with modulation can enhance a conventional tune. The complex algorithms is less important than its fidelity. The big deal with ALABS is not the cleverness of their sounds but the incredible detail from the quality of sonics from the hardware used to make them. The algorithms to make the sounds have been around for at least 15 or 20 years. So again to get to the point ALAB pedals are interested in cloning the top 10 ambient sounds of their competition but with equal sonic quality for about 1/3 of the money. The best of the big boys are all about stretching the sonic envelope and do so by bigger better and even more pricey chips. Big but? You pay for it. My take is that my audience wants to hear a great tune. I can paint the tune with sound from pedals but 99% of the time I can do that with a good budget analog delay and exotic best of pricy digital one will sound as good but not better. Pedals can be inspiring. They can be the catalyst for a new and wonderful tune so a very pricy one can be a justifiable gamble. Most pedals are sold to guys that buy them for toys. They compete with their other hobbies like buying a new golf club or new handlebars for their dirt bike. Nothing wrong with that but when you come to my sight you are getting info with the goal of getting gear that is pro even if it is the first rung of the ladder pro.
Is the Alabs orbital as good? Is it possible to emulate a rack chorus with it?
