OVERDRIVE- DOLAMO Vintage Distortion ...surprisingly good ....RAT ???

DOLAMO VINTAGE DIST.
$25.00 USD
The Dalamo brand pedals came to most people's attention about six months after AliExpress as ...Amazons Basic Pedals. None quite hit the low end of a Pro ladder but came close.
The 'Vintage' was released with the original pedals but got pulled.
They cost a little more and marketing ALL the Dalamo product at the same price was the goal. Two years ago the novelty waned for the brand and the Vintage showed up albeit a few dollars more.

It is not hard to note it is a Rat by the layout. It has a Volume, and Gain but the Tone is labelled Filter, lol. A tone control wired backwards. Total hype as all passive tone controls are a low pass filter.

CONCLUSION ___
Like ALL Rat pedals they never sound dead on a RAT II but this comes closer than 99% and it has excellent level. It blows away
all the Mosky for output.
For the record Dolamo is made by Caline that dug up old schematics
and a maker who could give them a small chunky enclosure and
make them very cheap pedals. Yes it breaks the Dolamo
mold and gives us a very usable and Pro sound.

...the best I have heard for a real Rat sound. Others you can argue are a better
OD and you are right. BUT ..a Timmy is a better OD but a Timmy is NOT nor
like many pedals claim they are ...a Rat

  2. Nothing wrong with it except it does not sound like a real Rat. At one time we bought clones because the real pedal was no longer made or the real pedal was expensive. A real Rat new is about $90 new and a used one 20 or 30 years old is the exact same pedal inside and out can be found for half that. As I said the Dolamo sounds so close I can not hear a difference if one dials it in to be the same. I also use the real Rat and pretty much every single day of the year so my ear knows it really well. The thing about a real Rat is you can keep it a lifetime. Even really pricey pedals of any kind never stay on your board for more than 3 or 4 years tops. I can remember years back when if you were cool you simply had to have the Arc Effects Soothsayer ... a Rat. Know barely knows that Arc Effects exist. Everyone knows who ProCo is.

  4. I’ve got a Jam pedals Rattler that sounds great. Would you recommend to get the Dolamo in order to have a « real » Rat sounding pedal?

This one sounds exactly the same. What a shame that the noise floor is so high
