EPOCHBOOST MINI
It is a clone of the pre-amp inside of the old Echo-Plex EP-3 tape echo machine. Guys owning the old machines found when the echo was off
that the pre was still on but it added a nice warm boost to their sound.
Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple used one.
CONCLUSION __A very big seller for Catalinbread now offered
as a mini.
FUZZrite MINI
Semi Mosley founder of Mosley invented this Fuzz that became famous for the sound of the infamous Iron Butterflies tune In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. If nothing else it became a best seller. A fave of the Garage bands and later was re-discovered by the Indie Alt and the
Grunge bands.
CONCLUSION ___This is the dead on authentic version of the original licenced by Catalinbread. What's not to love. 😇

Is there a germanium version of the Fuzzrite mini?
ReplyDeleteNo
ReplyDeleteQuite disappointing. the germanium version sounded better to my ears.
DeleteMosley found the only way to get a great sound from his germanium version was to run the voltage hot and the transistor died in a couple of months. He had to lose money on warranty repairs big time. It is why he did a version 2 with silicon transistors. Nearly every record recorded with a Fuzzrite is with the v.2
