That said they were all usable. The verdict is if you had 10 of the best vintage originals to chose from this would absolutely not be number 10. It could land anywhere. If I had to bet my total guess would be #5 out of 10. In short in the middle. Keep in mind all the others would cost at least $1000.00 USD, maybe more.

A new kid is on the block. Well new to me, lol. In short without luck or dragging a net over the video planet, which I do, a company has to least make a video or send it out to a tuber that will. There is little info on the pedal. It is loosely based on a Expandora. A vintage MIJ pedal consisting of 2 Rat pedals trapped in one box. For a couple of years the Expandora was the always on pedal for Billy Gibbons. The Layout is Gain, Volume and Tone. 

It has an added Bass cut and 2 toggles to bring in both Rats.  

   CONCLUSION__ 

JHS makes a pedal called the Kilt that is a take on the Expandora 

pedal. This is a take on the Kilt. Well, they are all what we call Hardclippers. As such this is damn good one.

The strictly medium gain OD part of the pedal has added to it a reverb and modulation effect that ramps up these effects then cuts them off unexpectedly with a gate. The layout is the expected Gain, Volume and Tone. You get control of the amount of the collective effects and controls over the Ramp and its speed.

  CONCLUSION ___ 

The OD has some serious balz to it so the effects 

add some drama instead of comic relief. So to 

get to the point this is not just made for the 

Shoegaze/Star Wars players.

Ok it has been 9 years in a row working every day doing over 3400 reviews WTF!!! am I doing here!!! Do I ever get a life? ...Damn, Damn, Damn & Damn!!!

THE GOOD NEWS

So 9 years ago I started a project to review the cheapest Pro pedals available, between Xmas and New Years in that down time between the usual festivities. It was meant to take maybe a bit of time over a couple of months. It's 9 years later and still not done, LOL Do do to a door crasher price of $200 off I bought a Friedman IR-X. I can still move my Plexi at 78. The problem is if I strain a muscle it takes days and days to heal. So I simply dial in my low Crunch  Plexi sound on the Friedman and forget about it.  I use my pedals like I always have  for dirt sounds,

DEMON FX Zdrive   

When the Hermida Zen Drive came out as the first Dumble-in-a-Box in 2004 one was sent to Robben Ford who loved it. Robben does session work but also gigs as a one man show picking up players he knows on both sides of the ocean. He travels light as he flies everywhere without bringing any amp let alone his Dumble. He is just completing a European tour. He not only uses the Zen Drive but he finds it is easier to use the pedal into an amp the studio provides as he can get his sound in a couple minutes. The parts are neither rare or pricy. They are simple industrial good quality industrial grade. So  the Zdrive is really a reproduction more than a clone. At $30.00 USD with free delivery you not only get a great pedal but you get a great ''Must Have' Dumble-in-a-Box without buying a pricey high end pedal. If Robben says it is a Dumble, thats F-ing good enough for me. Bottom line I am calling it my 'Pedal of the Year'.
