The '73 MATAMP GT-120 amplifier gave Stoner Rock/Doom it's first deliberate voice. The company still exists making handmade amps at eye watering prices. The layout is Volume Treble and Bass. It has 3 separate dirt controls, Gain, Drive and Boost. The last knob is Depth/Thickness. 

I suspect it is a mids control. The maker doesn't say.

It is what it is. My ears like the 

Ananashead Effects GT73 version

The $135.00 USD price doesn't hurt 

either.
