NO ONE OWNS ME___ I MAKE ZERO $ FROM THIS
A tape Delay records and then erases in a loop but the Binson recorded on a spinning metal drum and uses four record heads not just one to record but the basic principle is the same. The tape has a sound that is fat and warm where the Binson is bright and clear but full across all frequencies. Neither are better, just different. The tape can often disappear from your attention but the Binson tends to be welded to and part of your sound.
CONCLUSION ___
There are few companies that make them and there is a new variation of the original by T-Rex for a scary $2800.00 USD.
Clones are made by Drawmer Prince. Their Boonar sells for
$385.00 USD. The Strymon Vilante is another $430.00 USD. Keeleydo the Dark Matter for $300.00 USD.None are bad
but I onlydid this because I know guys that have got or
had a few thatI trust. They are happiest with the Catalinbread.
It is transparent design low to medium gain Overdrive. I reviewed V.1 To my ears it sounds like the 10 year old Xotic BB PreAmp. The layout is Volume, Gain and Tone. The final knob is described as Weight which as best as I can tell is a high pass filter to tighten the lows. A switch lets you choose clipping diodes.
CONCLUSION ___
I find it overpriced and unimpressive. It is definitely in the Dumble territory and at the price you have several great ones to choose from.
If you do like the vibe of this I would check on the Caline Orange Burst, dead on clone of the Xotic BB PreAmp for $35.00 USD and free shipping.
There are not any videos of white pedals or the V1 Blue pedal stated as being
a new V2 so I just picked the very best Old blue demo.
The company started in 1983. Like TC Electronic the pedals are MIC but with a good reliable build and parts.
This pedal is a medium gain OD pushing a bit into higher gain with an Amp-in a-Box vibe. The layout is Volume, Gain and Tone. A basic Gate which is always welcomed. The Attack knob blends a tiny bit of clean that gives it a nice edge.
CONCLUSION __
I find it at it's best when it is not pushed past crunch.
There you get a very fat chunky sound. It can get a
bit wooly after that. There are literally a hundred other
pedals at over $200 that at best are as good and some noticeable worse.
These guys work from the Jack Deville Shop in Portland Oregon. It is where all the Mr. Black Pedals are made. They seem to have the same approach. follow your instinct and come up with something you love and offer it up. This is a high gain OD but when pulled back you get clean boost like sound.
on the whole it appears to be OpAmp hardclipper like The Rat and many classic Boss pedals.
CONCLUSION___
It has a cutting clean and crisp attack all thru it's range.
The overall tone is as clear as glass yet there is plenty of gain.it could really pull a dark amp forward in the mix. ___
It is a love it or leave it pedal. Zero wrong with it but most guys are trying to fill niche where they would prefer a take on a specific classic pedal. Like a Tube Screameror a Blues Breaker etc, etc.
The Ibanez Screamer started the transparent drive by accident. It was brought out to market the need to add crunch to the millions of small single channel and usually low wattage amps everyone had from a beginner to a garage band or weekend warrior to do the local bars. Some players especially the semi pros found if you simply turn 90% of the gain down you got a near transparent boost pedal. SRV took this idea to the masses of players looking for some sacred transparent sound.
The Dumble amp got the reputation of an amp that did not need a pedal because it was voiced for the most part to do this without a pedal. Good ol' Josh Scott simply took every way people used their Tube Screamers and gave you control over the parameters it adds and allows you to put in anything it has weaknesses in. He did to the ts what Dumble did to the Fender Bassman.
The thing is you can get a pricy Dumble-in-a-box but it is voiced so that
your amp plus guitar plus the Dumble pedal is a fixed situation. If the
combination does not sound Dumble to you. You are right. With the JHS
you get a full internal 18v to give you headroom. You can add cleans
ratherthen pull back the gain. That means you are not trapped between
theboost sound or the OD sound. You can have both at the same time.
The upper mid poke is what made the ts popular but many found
it to prevalent. You get control of this too.
The layout is Volume, Tone and gain. Another knob for adding
cleans and a switch to boost or tame that mid poke.
CONCLUSION___
An analog pedal is just an analog pedal. It is not some digital alogism
with a thousand breakdowns and build up to make a sound. However
always has the possibility's of adding characteristics to your sound
that are intoxicating. It is why a lot of guys get someone's miracle
replacement for a time but a year later the old ts has been
The two most extreme overkill Fuzz pedals twinned. The company is 22 year old Adrian Amador. He is an Electronics student who took a break from school to start a company in 2022 working his way thru school. I have passed on his pedals before as they are only on Reverb and I have never once seen a single pedal in inventory. I did this time find a used pedal. The layout is volume, Tone and Gain. A balance control blends in cleans for bass guitars or bass heavy tunings. Two toggles take you from Twilight Zone
This MIJ pedal has a reputation with guys who own several of the 'Must Have' Dumble pedals as being the best for single coil PU's. Guys that own Dumble amps even buy them.
The layout is Volume, Tone and Gain. Another knob JALI appears to tweak the mids. A switch on the side gives you __green LED-Dumble mode, __red LED-Marshall mode and __blue LED Domkudo mode.
CONCLUSION ___
Since no two Dumble amps are alike as they were like homes designed by an architect. They were within a
basic stylistic framework but made to suit the players tastes and his technique. Over 10 thousand guys
just by word of mouth have watched the 1st video.
The detail in the harmonics and overtones is mind
blowing for an analog pedal. It has the picture perfect sound of a modeled amp but with the warmth,
feel and touch of a killer tube amp.
___It is a justifiable splurge.

...watch this last video. I wouldn't have the nerve to say more. 😇
A clone of the recently reissued DOD Gunslinger FET high gain Overdrive.
The layout is simple with Gain, Level, Treble and Bass.
The original was inspired by an early Ibanez pedal the 1990's Mostortion.
It came out with bad timing when guys were looking for really high gain
Metal sounds but it had nailed the more of the Marshall JCM 800 thing
so it did not sell well.
DOD brought theirs out when a lot of players were going back to classic sounds. As luck would have it DOD was closed do to issues with the owners that bought DOD as part of a package deal of JBL and other brands they
wish to own the names of to put onto consumer goods like speakers for
your Laptop etc. Ginean jumped in, to fill the gap with clones but now
thereal DOD is back. Is it the Mostortion curse, lol.
CONCLUSION ___
The DOD Gunslinger is back and at $110.00 USDfor a made in the U.S. is damn fair.
But even soat$45& with shipping included it is less than half. Of course for $200
you can get the brand new Wampler Mosfetta, lol. As for an accurate cloneI have
the GineanHairy Show Fuzz, their clone of the DOD Carcosaand they nailedit.
I have been tempted to get a Boss OD-3 as it is aimed at that same soundof
Hard Rock meets Metal. The Boss is bit heavier sounding and I havebeen
lookingfor the perfect match up for a semi. At present I use aBoss-OD1 clone.
I am both impressed and tempted by this Ginean.

The new Mosfetta is Wampler's very latest pedal and is a take on the Boss Mostortion too. It is $200.00 USD. I like DODs take better.
The one thing that drives me nuts is creating a big deal around a FET pedal. 95% of the super killer pricy MIAB pedals use cascading FETS.
In short you could easily be a guy with a FET OD already. Think of someone selling you a car with a V8 engine and making you think they
invented it. It is what the marketing guys are doing with their re-invented Mostortion pedals.
A comparison of 7 Dumble pedals. All are still in production and indeed others are always coming out with their 'Me-Too' models. I think what you pick really has nothing to do with authenticity to the amp. It is all about a personal application. If you have one guitar and one amp and no other OD's on your board than my guess is you will likely subconsciously pick the one with some punch. Keep in mind balz is a Marshall thing not a Dumble. If like me you want one for just using it for light crunch with a Strat then give the grandaddy of the Dumble pedal. The Zen Drive, a try. The Z-drive by DemonFX is only $30.00 USD, 100% part for part replica ...so WTF!!!
The layout is Gain, Volume and Tone. A switch on the side
lets you choose from 3 voices. The LED changes color when
chosen. Green, Blue and Yellow. The high gain singing voice
is Green.
Jali? I have no idea. My best guess is a it changes the Mids.
CONCLUSION__
It sounds impressive. It certainly puts you in the ballpark.
Carlos is famous for switching out gear all the time so
how do you judge? He is famous for his two real Dumble amps but even so I have seen him recently with aFender amp. He was using an old Strat? This pedal certainly has a very Zendrive vibe to it? Put a Zendrive beside it and you certainly can easily hear the similarity.
