MXR
Yngwie Malmsteen
Overdrive
The guy started out with a favorite DOD PreAmp 250 and then DOD
made him a mildly beefed up one followed by one with even more
gain. Once his fans got one sales tanked and it was out of production.I expect this is like the DOD pedals right down to having his personal
sweet spot designed into the pedal only when dimed. The output is
likely eye wateringly loud.
The Layout is simply Volume and Gain.
CONCLUSION __
MXR has done well with Zakk Wylde, Green Day and others from past eras releasing a custom pedal. Most of these players have use the same pedals for decades. Those old pedals have very simple typography's and just handful of parts. The R&D is non existent to simply add a bit of gain or a tweak here and there. and the cost of these pedals is cheap. That said they can still makes some cool noises and the prices of many are reasonable. A DOD PreAmp 250 with a bit more balz and breadth can be a really useful boost.
